UV DAYS app for iPhone and iPad

High-class finished and well thought-out print products with added value have become a trademark of IST METZ GmbH over the last few years. With its print products, the mechanical engineering company shows the many possibilities UV technology has to offer in a very practical way. At UV DAYS from June 15-18, 2015, guests from all over the world get to know the latest news about the curing of inks, varnishes, silicones and adhesives by means of UV light.

According to this year’s motto “UV rocks!” a paper guitar will be printed and finished live on the in-house sheet-fed offset printing press. As the print product of UV DAYS 2013 – a packaging which has won four awards – did before, the guitar shows a holistic product concept.

Every commercial smartphone can be put into the folded guitar head. When the head is closed with a paper flap, the app can be started. According to playing a real guitar, in the game you have to hit the right guitar strings with the fingers of your left hand to play a melodious rock song and gain some points. A direct hit is worth 50 points, the right area is worth 10 points. If you miss the spot, each time 10 points will be deducted from your score. The song is played too slow and inharmoniously when you hit the wrong spots, but played perfectly when there’s an expert at work!

Hence the paper guitar can be digitally “played” via the app. But the guitar does not only have a playful character. It can also be used as a loudspeaker. Place it upright, then put your smartphone into the guitar head. On the front of the body, a pattern has been laser cut so that it serves as a resonating body.

Visitors of UV DAYS get each a paper guitar as a gift at the event.
